5-Feet On A Good Day

Lifestyle of the Vertically Challenged

I like my men big ;)

on January 2, 2012

Being a short girl comes with the advantage of being able to choose between a larger pool of men because I could date a man who is 5’1, or a guy who is 6’3 and it wouldn’t be a problem. For some tall girls, they feel that they need to be with someone who is taller, so they have less options to choose from. I, on the other hand, am very unlikely to even encounter a legal male who is shorter than me.

But even so, I like tall men.

I don’t know if I have a “type” when it comes to the opposite sex, but I believe that I find myself more attracted to taller guys.

I mean in my case, compared to me, every guy probably seems tall, but I think I have a thing for guys that are significantly taller than myself.

My boyfriend, who I’ve been with for over 5 years, is at least a whole foot taller than me.

The majority of the pictures that I take with him are taken when we’re both sitting, so I don’t have too much proof of how much taller he is than me, but here is an example. Ignore the fact that we’re both vampires. (It was Halloween and I got him to go along with doing this when I was in a Twilight-crazed stage of my life).

So yeah, he’s pretty damn tall compared to me, but I enjoy the fact that he’s taller.

I like the cute aspect of having to stand on my toes or him having to lean down to kiss me. I like how he can easily rest his arms on my shoulders. I like how I can bury myself into his chest and he can wrap his arms around me when it’s cold out. I like how he can rest his chin on my head or kiss my forehead with ease.

Our height difference isn’t really a factor when it comes to our relationship.

I guess I am attracted to the fact that he’s tall.

But even aside from my relationship, If I happen to notice a man and think to myself “oh hey, he’s cute”, the individual is usually pretty high up there.

There are a few hypotheses that I’ve derived from this situation.

A) It might just be that I notice really tall men first because I’m used to constantly having to look up at people. I’m too busy looking high up to notice someone that might be closer to my own height.

B) I may have a subconscious desire to obtain a taller mate so that If we were to ever have children, they would have a better chance at being an average height.

C) Perhaps my perspective has led me to believe that the guys that I notice are significantly taller, but they’re really just average height.

D) My dad may have had a point when he said “You better marry someone who’s at least 6’3” when we were discussing how I need someone to protect me because I’m little. I like the idea of being protected.

E) Maybe since I’ve been with my boyfriend for so long, I’ve developed a preference for taller guys because I’m attracted to him. Maybe it’s just the fact that I notice people that are close to his height because they remind me of him.

Now I’m not saying that short guys are unattractive. There are plenty of good looking men that some would consider short.

However, if I were in a situation where I had to choose between marrying an attractive tall man or an equally attractive short man, I’d most likely walk down the aisle with the taller guy.

My apologies to the short men out there that are stuck looking for a short girlfriend. I’m sure there are short girls out there that prefer a guy that doesn’t tower over them.

But this shorty is swept off her little legs by a tall, wonderful guy ❤

  1. I know what you mean. My boyfriend is 6’3 and i’m 5’2. I love how tall he is. To me it makes him way more attractive than if he was short like me.

I’m 6′-4″. I once went out with a girl who was slightly taller than me.
I cannot believe that height is an important consideration when choosing a mate. There are so many other factors that are more likely to impinge upon your happiness. If you’re looking for someone to “look good on your arm”, you’re likely to find misery.
Refer Sophie Dahl and Jamie Cullum: I think they look great together.

That’s another striking evidence proves that short men (5’3 and under) are forever alone.
