Let’s Go Midgets!

on February 5, 2012

So apparently there’s some big sports event going on today or something…

Okay, okay, I know…it’s Superbowl Sunday.

And honestly, I couldn’t give a damn.

I could care less about professional sports teams because frankly, no one should be getting paid millions of dollars to play a game.

The only reason that I would watch the Superbowl is for the commercials and so that I have an excuse to eat wings and have a few beers.

But being that I have to wake up around 6am for a job tomorrow, I’ll probably be snoozing by half-time.

So despite the fact that I’m a New Yorker and the Giants are in today’s Superbowl, I just don’t really care.

I just can’t wait for football season to officially be over because I’m sick of all social media being taken over by football status’ all winter.

“Let’s go big blue!!!!”

“Let’s go Giants!”

Why should I be rooting for a team called the Giants, when I am a shorty supporter?

I’d rather root for the Midgets!

And apparently there is a Midgets football team.

There’s a couple of them actually. They’re not actual dwarfs who play football, but rather youth leagues.

I’ll focus on one in particular for today. The Giants have their own youth league called the New Jersey Junior Midget football team.

And they’re pretty good!

New Jersey Junior Midgets

For several seasons, the Midgets have gone undefeated and in 2009, they won the Junior Midget Pop Warner National Championship. Not only do they play well, but they’re respectable young players, as they also claimed the sportmanship award.

At this point, their season has been over for a while, but I’m going to continue to support them, even though they’ll probably all grow up to be at least a head taller than me. Kids deserve more support than grown men who are way overpaid to play games that they played in school.

Let’s go Midgets!

The funny thing is my cousin was on the Junior Midget team in New Jersey and they actually play amazing. I was at the game before they went down to Florida for the championship game. To bad my cousin isn’t on the team anymore because I would definitely go back for another game.
